Serena Brown is a 23-year-old photographer whose work is influenced by her diverse upbringing in London. Using both digital and analog practices, Brown's photographic style interlinks social documentary and fashion portraits to create powerful narratives that explore a variety of topics which influence her. Brown's recent series Back a Yard documents high fashion's appropriation of working-class trends and streetwear culture. By designing her own ‘high fashion tracksuits’, Brown highlights the influence and power that the working class youth in London hold over the fashion industry, reclaiming a look that they are often negatively defined by.
